On the 5th January 2004 South Link Health Inc., an Independent Practitioner Association based in Dunedin, purchased MedCen. South Link Health is a non-profit organisation, supporting General Practice throughout the South Island, focussed mainly in the area of Primary Health Care. One of South Link Health's driving forces is its belief in "local solutions to local problems." Covering an area as diverse as the South Island, South Link Health is acutely aware of the varying health needs of local communities. As a body, it aims to provide the necessary support for general practices to respond to those needs in the most appropriate way. Taking a more active role in a Practice Management System is seen as a logical step for us. MedCen’s new management believe that Information Management is becoming increasingly important in Health Care, and will strive to maintain MedCen’s position as one of New Zealand’s leading Practice Management Systems. South Link Health has retained the valued services of John O’Duffy in a lead programming, and program development role.
